Kara Chutney

Kara Chutney - a spicy, South Indian style Chutney

Heat oil in a pan. Add chana dal, udad dal, garlic and dry red chillies. Saute for few seconds

Add onion, salt and tamarind. Saute till the onion softens.

Add tomatoes and cook till mushy

Blend the cooked ingredients to a fine paste

For tempering, heat oil in a small pan. Add mustard seeds, udad dal, curry leaves and dry red chilly. 

Pour the tempering into the chutney

Serve Kara Chutney withj idli, dosa, uttappam, vadas etc
