Ingredients

  • 3 cups of puffed rice
  • 2 tsp oil
  • ¼ cup peanuts
  • 2 tbsp roasted chana dal
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • few curry leaves
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • a pinch of sugar
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • chopped coriander for garnishing

Instructions

  • Blend roasted chana dal to a fine powder. Keep aside.
  • In a bowl, add puffed rice.
  • Add water and keep it soaked for a minute.
  • Squeeze out the water from puffed rice.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add peanuts. I have used ¼ cup of peanuts as I like lot of roasted peanuts in this dish. You can adjust the quantity of peanuts as per your preference.
  • Saute till the peanuts are roasted well.
  • Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves and chopped green chillies. Saute for few seconds.
  • Add chopped onion. Saute till the onion turns golden brown in colour.
  • Add chopped tomato. Saute till the tomato turns mushy.
  • Add turmeric powder, salt and sugar.
  • Add a tablespoon of water and mix well.
  • Add washed and drained puffed rice. Give a quick mix.
  • Add roasted chana dal powder and mix.
  • Finally add lemon juice and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  • Serve immediately.
