Ingredients

  • 2 large potatoes

For Masala Paste

  • 2 tbsp red chilli powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • ¼ tsp asafoetida (hing)
  • salt as per taste 

Outer coating

  • 2 tbsp semolina (rava)
  • 1 tbsp rice flour
  • ½ tsp red chilly powder
  • a pinch of salt
  • Oil as required  for shallow frying potatoes

Instructions

  • Wash the potatoes and peel them.
  • Cut  the potatoes into slices (neither too thick nor too thin).
  • Keep the potatoes immersed in water.
  • To prepare the masala, in a plate add red chilli powder,turmeric powder, asafoetida, lemon juice and salt. Add a tbsp of water and mix well.
  • Coat the potato slices with this masala paste. Keep aside for 15 minutes.
  • For the outer coating, mix together rava, rice flour, saltand red chilly powder.
  • Coat each potato slice with this rava rice flour mixture.
  • Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan. Place the rava coated potatoslices in the pan.
  • Cover the pan and cook until one side of the potato slicesare fried.
  • Flip the potato slices. Cover the pan and let it cook on the other side.
  • Remove fried potatoes from the pan  and place them on absorbent paper.
  • Serve Potato Fry with dal chawal or as side dish with your meals.
