Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole green gram (moong)
  • ½ cup barnyard millet (varai/ bhagar/ samak)
  • 3 green chillies
  • a small piece of ginger
  • salt to taste
  • Ghee or oil for  cooking dosas

Additional ingredients

  • Chopped onion
  • Chopped coriander leaves

Instructions

  • In a bowl add whole green gram and barnyard millet.
  • Add water and rinse it a few times.  Draint he water. Add water and keep it soaked for 7 to 8 hours or overnight. 
  • Once soaked, drain the water, transfer the soaked ingredients to a mixer jar.
  • Add green chillies, ginger, salt and a little water. Blend to a fine paste. 
  • Check the salt. Add more salt if required.
  • Add more water if required to adjust the consistency. 
  • Heat a dosa pan. Grease it lightly
  • Pour a ladleful batter on the pan and spread to make a thin dosa.
  • Sprinkle chopped onion and chopped coriander leaves.
  • Drizzle ghee over the dosa and cook till it turns golden and crispy.
  • Serve hot with coconut chutney.
