Ingredients

  • 250 gms French beans
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • few curry leaves
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 small tomato, chopped
  • 3 to 4 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 3 tbsp Mangalore curry powder
  • salt to taste
  • ½ cup freshly grated coconut

Instructions

  • Wash the French beans, remove the strings, and chop them diagonally.
  • Steam the beans until just tender. Set aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
  • Add curry leaves and chopped garlic. Sauté for a few seconds until aromatic.
  • Add chopped onions and sauté until soft and translucent.
  • Add the chopped tomato and cook until it turns soft and mushy.
  • Add the steamed French beans to the pan. Mix well.
  • Add turmeric powder, salt,and the Mangalorean curry powder. Stir to coat the beans evenly.
  • Add the freshly grated coconut. Mix everything well, cover, and cook on a low flame for2–3 minutes.
  • Serve hot with rice or rotis.
