Jowar flakes Poha

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of Jowar flakes (Sorghum flakes)
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp udad dal
  • ½ tsp chana dal
  • few curry leaves
  • 3 green chillies, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • ½ cup finely chopped carrot
  • ½ cup fresh green peas
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 to 3 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  • 2 to 3 tbsp fresh coconut, grated 

Instructions

  • Place a sieve over a bowl andadd the jowar flakes.
  • Pour 1 cup of water over the flakes to rinse them. Set aside to drain.  
  • Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add urad dal, chana dal, curry leaves,and chopped green chilies. Sauté for a few seconds.
  • Add chopped onions and sauté on low heat until they soften.
  • Add chopped carrots and fresh peas. Mix well. Season with turmeric powder and salt. Pour in ½ cup of water, cover the pan, and cook until the vegetables are tender.
  • Add the soaked jowar flakes to the pan. Mix gently, ensuring everything is combined. Adjust salt if needed.
  • Turn off the heat, add lemon juice, and mix.
  • Garnish with grated coconut and chopped coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot and enjoy this nutritious, wholesome Jowar Flakes Poha!
