Peel and chop the drumsticks into 2-inch pieces. Wash and set aside.
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
Add cumin seeds and asafoetida.
Add chopped garlic and sauté for a few seconds.
Then add chopped onions and cook till they turn soft and translucent.
Mix in turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and Goda masala. Sauté for a few seconds to bring out the aroma.
Add the chopped drumsticks, tamarind pulp, and about ¾ cup water. Mix well.
Cover the pan and cook on a low flame,stirring occasionally. Add more water if needed.
Once the drumsticks are almost done, add jaggery and mix. Cover and cook until fully cooked and tender.
Turn off the flame. Garnish with freshly grated coconut and chopped coriander leaves.
Serve hot with dal rice ,
