Soyabean is a rich source of protein for vegetarians. These legumes are supposedly good for skin, hair and bone health. Soyabean masala is a simple, tasty and healthy recipe where soyabeans are cooked in an onion tomato gravy. It tastes great with chapatis, ajwain paratha, lachcha paratha and rice. Here’s the recipe.
Ingredients
1 cup soyabean
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
5 to 6 cloves garlic (chopped)
1 inch ginger (chopped)
3 onions (chopped)
2 tomatoes (chopped)
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chilly powder
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp cumin coriander powder
1 tsp amchur powder (dry mango powder)
1 tsp tomato ketchup
1 tbsp chopped coriander
Salt as per taste
Method
Soak soyabean in water for 4 to 5 hours. Pressure cook the soyabeans for 4 to 5 whistles.
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, chopped ginger, chopped garlic and saute.
Add the chopped onions.
Saute and cook till the onion turns brown. Add the chopped tomatoes.
Cook till the tomatoes turn soft.
Now, add the turmeric powder, red chilly powder, garam masala and cumin-coriander powder.
Mix well and cook for a minute. Add the cooked soyabeans and mix well.
Add ½ cup water and cook for 5 minutes. Add salt, amchur powder and tomato ketchup and mix well.
Cook for another minute and garnish with chopped coriander.
Serve soyabean masala with chapatis, parathas or rice
