How to make Chicken Frankie

Chicken Frankie is a famous street food. It is  is an egg coated roll with chicken filling and crunchy salad. It’s a favourite among children and adults alike. Now, make this delicious Chicken frankie at home .


For the chicken stuffing

250 grams Boneless chicken                              
2 Onion (finely chopped)                                 
1 Tomato                                                                
4 to 5 cloves Garlic (finely chopped)                                 
½  inch piece Ginger (finely grated)                                     
 1 tsp Chilly powder                                                   
1 tsp Turmeric powder                                             
1 tsp Garam masala                                                    
2 tsp Amchoor powder                                             
1 tsp Cumin-coriander powder                             
2 tbsp Fresh coriander (chopped)                          
1 tbsp Fresh mint (chopped)                                    
1 tbsp Oil                                                                           
Salt  as per taste

For the outer roll

1 cup Whole wheat flour                                          
1 tsp Oil                                                                           
Salt as per taste

For the salad stuffing

1 cup Cabbage (finely sliced)                                   
1 Onion (thinly sliced)                                        
1 tbsp Fresh mint (chopped)                                    
1 tbsp Lemon juice                                                        
Salt as per taste
2 Eggs                                                                       


Chicken stuffing

  • Grind the tomato to a smooth puree and keep it aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add the chopped onion and saute till it turns golden brown.
  • Add the chopped garlic and ginger and saute. 
  • Add the tomato puree.
  • Add the chilly powder,  turmeric powder, cumin coriander powder, garam masala and cook on medium flame till the tomato is cooked well.
  • Add the chicken pieces and cook for 5 to 8 minutes. 
  • Once the chicken is cooked, add the amchoor powder, chopped coriander and mint and mix it well.  Keep this aside.

Outer Roll

  • Mix  the wheat flour, salt, oil and enough water to knead it to a smooth dough.  
  • Roll out chapatis from this dough and half roast them. Keep this aside

Salad stuffing

  • Mix together sliced cabbage, onion, mint, lemon juice and salt and keep this aside.

How to proceed

  • Break 2 eggs in a mixing bowl and beat it. 
  • Heat a pan. 
  • Drizzle a little oil and place one chapatti/wrap on hot pan and brush it with the egg mixture. 
  • Flip the wrap and let the egg cook well.
  • This will be the inner egg coating of the wrap. 
  • Remove the wrap from the pan. 
  • On the egg side of the wrap, spread around 2 tbsp of chicken stuffing and a tbsp of the salad stuffing.
  • Then roll it up into a frankie.
