Amla Mirchi Thecha

Amla Mirchi Thecha  –  a spicy, tangy Maharashtrian chutney made with amla, green chillies, garlic, and peanuts, pounded to a coarse, flavorful blend.

Thecha , a fiery rustic chutney made by pounding green chillies and garlic holds a special place in Maharashtrian cuisine. It is typically served with bhakri, roti or thalipeet.  , I’m sharing my version of thecha with a twist – we’re adding amla, or Indian gooseberries, to give it a tangy punch and a nutritional boost.

About Amla Mirchi Thecha

Amla is known for its high vitamin C content and numerous health benefits – from improving immunity to aiding digestion and skin health. By pairing it with green chillies, garlic, coriander leaves and roasted peanuts, this recipe turns humble ingredients into a powerhouse of taste and health.

What makes this thecha even more special is the rustic method of preparation – using a mortar and pestle to coarsely pound the ingredients. This technique not only enhances the texture but also brings out the natural oils and flavours of each component.

This Amla Mirchi Thecha pairs beautifully with thalipeeth, jowar bhakri, bajra roti, or even as a spicy side with dal-rice or curd rice. It’s a great way to incorporate amlas into your meals.
