Moong Dal Spring Onion Sabzi is a simple yet flavorful dish that combines the mild sweetness of spring onions with the earthy taste of moong dal. This wholesome recipe is packed with protein, fiber, and essential nutrients, making it a great addition to everyday meals.

Step-wise instructions with pictures
Wash and soak moong dal for 2 hours.

Chop the spring onions and keep aside.


Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, chopped garlic and chopped green chillies. Saute for few seconds.

Add chopped spring onions. Saute on low heat till the onion turns soft.

Add chopped tomato and saute till the tomato turns mushy.Â

Add soaked moong dal and mix.

Add turmeric powder and half a cup of water. Mix well. Cover and cook for 8 to 10 minutes.Â

Add red chilli powder, cumin coriander powder and salt. Mix well.

Add spring onion greens and mix well. Cover and cook for 5 to 7 minutes.Â

 Add garam masala and mix. Cook for few seconds.

Serve Moong Dal Spring Onion Sabzi with chapatis.

- 4 cloves of garlic, chopped

- 1 tomato, chopped
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp cumin coriander powder
- salt to taste
- ½ tsp garam masala
