About Parippu Curry
Parippu Curry is an integral part of the traditional Onam Sadya. It is a Kerala style dal recipe made using moong dal. Firstly the moong dal is roasted till it turns aromatic. Roasted moong dal is boiled and later cooked with coconut masala to achieve a creamy texture. Parippu Curry is finally topped with a tempering of mustard seeds, red chillies, onion and curry leaves. The tempering enhances the aroma and flavour of the curry. Parippu Curry is best enjoyed with steamed rice, pickle and papad.
