Lauki Amla Juice – a healthy juice made with bottle gourd and gooseberries.
Today is the first day of the year 2020. I wanted to start my day, year and this decade on a healthy note. So, started my day with the healthy Lauki Amla Juice. Bottlegourd & Gooseberries, both are rich in nutrients and offer multiple health benefits. They are known to promote heart, skin and hair health, aid digestion, cure constipation etc.
Importance of health can never be overemphasized because when you have health, you have everything. Good health starts with healthy eating and healthy living. Starting the day with a fresh vegetable juice can work wonders for your body. These are small lifestyle habits which can go a long way in maintaining a healthy body. To quote Jim Rohn – ”Take care of your body. It is the only place you have to live.”.
Lauki Amla Juice is one such healthy juice which when had on a regular basis can benefit immensely. Both bottlegourd and gooseberries are highly nutritious . Lauki amla juice with the addition of ginger and black salt/rock salt makes for a healthy drink and is definitely a great way to begin the day.

Bottlegourd (lauki)
Indian Gooseberries (amla)
ginger (adrak)
rock salt /kaala namak
Note : Before making the juice, it is very important to taste a small piece of bottle gourd. It should not taste bitter. If it tastes bitter, discard the bottlegourd and use a fresh one which is not bitter.
Step-wise recipe with pictures
Wash, peel and chop bottlegourd. Wash and peel Indian gooseberries. Chop ginger.
In a mixer jar, add chopped bottlegourd, gooseberries, ginger. Add around ¾ cup of water and blend to a smooth mixture.
Strain the mixture and collect the juice in a large bowl.
Add rock salt and mix well.
Pour into glasses an serve.

Ingredients
- 1 cup of peeled & chopped bottle gourd (lauki/ doodhi)
- 1 cup of chopped gooseberries (amla)
- ½ inch ginger, chopped (adrak)
- ½ tsp rock salt (kaala namak)
Instructions
- Into a mixer jar, add chopped bottle gourd, chopped amla, ginger and around ¾ cup of water.
- Blend the vegetables to a smooth mixture.
- Strain the mixture using a strainer and extract the juice.
- Add rock salt and mix.
- Pour into glasses and serve.
